When should you notify the DAAI of accidents and incidents?
Under the Namibian regulations, the owner, operator or pilot-in-command of the aircraft must report to the DAAI within 24hrs when either one of the following happens:
- An aircraft accident or serious incident occurs in Namibia, regardless of the country that the aircraft is registered in.
- A Namibian-registered aircraft or an aircraft operated by a Namibian operator is involved in an accident or incident overseas.
When notifying,the DAAI, the owner, operator or pilot-in-command should provide all the information he can gather. Details that are omitted from the initial notification can be provided when they are available.
