FUNCTIONS OF THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION

The Division of Human Resources is dealing with Personnel Administration, Labour Relations, Grievance Procedures, Staffing, Misconduct, Affirmative Action. This Division renders an efficient and effective personnel function in conjunction with the general principles as stipulated in the Public Service Charter, to the Ministry of Works and Transport and other stakeholders. 

The key operational activities are as follows:

RECRUTMENT

-Appointments
-Translation in ranks
-Promotions, Transfers

SEPARATION

-Death
-Retirement (normal 60 yrs, early and ill health
-Resignations
-Dismissals
-Abscondment and
-Re-organization

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION

-Compile Affirmative Action Reports 

STAFF ESTABLISHMENT

-Obtain approval for amendment to the staff establishment
-Update the staff establishment 

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

Administration of Pension matters and sound health and safety standards.
Handling of applications for participation in HOSSM, Medical Aid, rent allowance and various types of application of leave.
Approach the Office of the Prime Minister with individual requests pertaining to deviations, obtaining of advice and various recommendations to be made.
Identify training needs for staff members in entry and on promotion levels within the Division of Human Resources and ensure the development of their skills and attitude in order to enhance quality service delivery.

LABOUR RELATIONS, GREIVANCE HANDLING AND MISCONDUCT

-Attend to queries from Trade Unions on staff matters
-Attend to/facilitate solutions of staff greivances
-Render Secretarial Services during disciplinary hearing
